.DE is the official country code Top-Level-Domain (ccTLD) of Germany (Deutschland)
A .DE Domain is normally used by companies or private entities who are located in Germany.
* Minimum: 3
* Maximum: 63
* Letters and numbers
* Hyphens ("-"), however not at the beginning or directly in front of the TLD
.DE domains can be registered online through webinterface or API.
A change the registrant for a .DE domain can be done by specifying the new owner contact handle with the ModifyDomain command.
Please note, that you need a signed confirmation form of the old and new owner, in case of a review of the ownerchange by DeNIC.
As .DE domains can only be registered on a yearly basis, they cannot be renewed explicitly. To renew an .DE domain you have to set the domain renewal mode or default renewal mode to "AUTORENEW" or "RENEWONCE".
.DE Domains can be deleted online through the DeleteDomain Command.
Please note that you're only allowed to delete .DE domains if you have the authorization of the domain owner.
If you don't have the authorization of the owner you can push a domain to the registry (DeNIC Transit) with the PushDomain command or by setting the domain renewal mode to "AUTOEXPIRE".
* Owner or Admin contacts must have a valid address (no P.O. Box) located in Germany.
* Configured nameservers are required. A web based ZoneCheck is available.
.DE Transfers are possible. Upon successfully transfering a .DE domain, it is automatically renewed for one year. Please note that when a .DE Domain is transferred successfully, then the registration period starts from the beginning.
* You can initiate a .DE domain transfer either through the RRPproxy WebInterface or through API.
Please remember that you MUST have a signed request from the owner of the domain.
* A .DE Domain Transfer can stay active up to one month. Then a new KK-Antrag has to be started / initiated. If a provider does not react to a KK-Inquiry for a while, then he still has the possibility of confirming the transfer through a so-called LATE ACK. In case of doubt, then this must always be clarified by the customer.
* If possible, please inform your old provider prior to initiating the transfer, so that the transfer is not rejected.
* Double-check if the respective domain has already been paid for and that there are not any open issues with the old registrar
* Ensure that your respective domain does not have a lock-status (LOCK or HOLD). If your domain is locked, then the customer can demand that it be unlocked.
* The transfer is always initiated with the new provider / registrar.
* Start the transfer in time and not just shortly before the expiration date of your domain, because otherwise the transfer could fail.
A Transfer can take up to 5-10 days.
Restores are not possible at this point in time.
